Robert M. Eshbach

Born in Bechtelsville, PA he was the son of the late Florence D. (Moyer) and James R. Eshbach.

Robert was employed as a Carpenter for over 50 years in the area, working for Weller & Updegrove and Russell L. Weller. He also served as caretaker for Bechtelsville Union Cemetery for over 50 years. He was deeply involved in the Boy Scouts of America with Pack and Troop 511 for over 55 years, receiving numerous awards including the Silver Beaver Award and Woodsman of the World in 1983. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, wood carving and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal in the Headquarters and Service Battery 681st Glider Field Artillery Battalion, participating in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII.

Robert and Cynthia were married for 66 years, and he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bechtelsville.

He is survived by his children, Marvin C. Miller, Jr., husband of Linda Miller of Bechtelsville, Linda M., wife of Elmer Gilbert, Jr. of Bechtelsville, Janice L., wife of Ted Sheetz, Sr. of Boyertown, Sharon K., wife of Randy Renninger of Bechtelsville, Robert J. Eshbach of Boyertown, Lisa B., wife of Neil Fox of Barto and Mardell A., wife of Tim Blanford of Boyertown. Robert is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Willard M. Eshbach who passed away in 2006.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bechtelsville, Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11AM.

Interment will be in Bechtelsville Union Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at church Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 6 – 8pm and on Friday from 9:45 – 10 45 AM

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1749 South Main Street, Bechtelsville, PA 19505.
