Sarah Anne Douglas, age 91, of Willingboro, NJ passed away on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 at Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly, NJ. Sarah was born on June 24th, 1928, in Liverpool, England, to John and Sarah Lyons.
Sarah spent early school years in Liverpool, England. She worked as a retail cashier and Sales Associate at various locations in the US. Her favorite place to work was with the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES). Although Sarah did not attend church in person recently because of limited mobility, she never stopped being dedicated to following the path of Christianity.
Sarah loved her family deeply. She was the spouse of an Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer and a loving mother of seven children. As a military spouse, she lovingly raised her children on Air Force installations located in England, Alaska, California, New Mexico, and Nevada. Sarah always balanced her roles of retail employee and caretaker of her family; she was an extraordinary provider and nurturing mother. Sarah later became a proud military mom having five of her sons enter United Sates military service to include one in the Army and four in the Air Force. Sarah loved to travel, taking her whole family with her. A fantastic road trip she had still leaves happy memories of the whole family and three poodles riding in a VW bus from Philadelphia to Las Vegas, Nevada. Sarah liked to spend nice days relaxing outside at parks along the Delaware river to watch sail boats and going to play bingo at local churches. Sarah was a lover of all animals, especially dogs. She enjoyed caring for and grooming her miniature poodles. She liked cooking for her family, especially making homemade tacos for her children for New Years celebrations. Although Sarah was a private person, she enjoyed every minute she got to be with her family. Everyone gathered together to celebrate the holidays, and no one will forget the good times spent at her 90th birthday party.
She is pre deceased by siblings Henry, Tom, John, Billy, and Janie and her sons Leslie, and Wendell. Sarah is survived by her sister Anne, England, and children, Standford, Mt Holly, NJ, Benjamin, Las Vegas, NV, Michael (Lesia), Avon, IN, Paul (Shelly), Carlton, TX, Julie Young (Harold), Pottsgrove, PA, and Ray, Willingboro, NJ. Sarah is also survived by many grand children, great grand children, nieces, nephews and close friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 14th, 2020 at 11:30am at Limerick Garden of Memories. 44 East Arcadia Drive, Limerick PA 19468.
