Susan (Elaine) Wood Craig

Susan was born on December 13, 1941, the daughter of the late James R. and Lois (Crowl) Wood of

Nottingham, PA. She was married to Ronald Crossan Craig for 31 years before his death in 1994. She attended Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA, where she was extensively involved in sports, including basketball, tennis, and field hockey. She obtained her degree in Secondary Education, which she utilized for the rest of her life, teaching at Calvary Baptist School, North Star Christian Academy, and Antioch Baptist School before returning to Calvary Baptist School to teach for another decade.

Susan made a commitment to follow Christ in her mid-thirties that influenced the rest of her life. She

was a pastor's wife for 17 years, taught at Christian schools, volunteered in Awana Club for several years, and earned the Timothy Award for Bible memory. She spent countless hours on the bleachers watching her children compete in various sports, and anyone who knew her knew that one of her favorite things to do was listen to her children play the piano. She was active into her sixties, completing several 75-mile bike rides and even a triathlon. She was well-known for her hospitality, which frequently included making homemade taco shells and still remains a family favorite to this day.

Susan is survived by her four children: Tracey McKibben and husband, Darrin; George Craig and wife, Laura(Touma); Kevin Craig and wife, Sarah (Alexander); Sara Elgersma and husband, James. She was “Grams” to 13 grandchildren: Ian, Rachael, Anna, Celia, Ella, Elisha, Enoch, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Malachi, Jeremiah, Luke, and Abigail. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Bob & Anita Wood, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard & Patsy Craig, and sister-in-law Ruth Ann Wood. She was predeceased by her brother Jesse Wood.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1380 S. Valley Forge Rd., Lansdale, PA 19446. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Susan Wood Craig Memorial Scholarship Fund. Checks made payable to Calvary Baptist School with Susan Craig Scholarship on the memo line may be sent to Calvary Baptist School, Attn. Liz Musselman, 1380 S. Valley Forge Rd., Lansdale, PA 19446.
