He was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Gregory II, and his mother, Dorothy (Dempsey) Gregory
Beloved husband of Connie (Starr) Gregory of Bradenton, proud father of Jennifer (Gregory) Pritts, loving grandfather to Hailey and Larissa Pritts both of Madison Wisconsin and Holden Pritts of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Loving brother to Starr (Gregory) Gibbons and devoted uncle to Corey Gibbons of Pittsburgh.
Despite many challenges early in life, Chuck achieved remarkable success. After barely graduating from Penn Hills High School in Pennsylvania, he went on to become a proud graduate of Point Park University and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Chuck began his professional career at U.S. Gypsum, a Fortune 500 company in Bedford, Indiana, where he served as Director of Human Resources. He later joined the Swiss company Contraves as Vice President of Human Resources, a role that allowed him to travel extensively throughout Europe.
Deeply involved in the Pittsburgh economic development community, Chuck was selected to host and tour executives from Sony Corporation during their consideration of building a manufacturing plant in the region. Through his leadership and persuasion, Sony chose Pittsburgh, and Chuck subsequently joined the company as Vice President of Human Resources. During his tenure at Sony, he was promoted to Corporate Senior Vice President of Human Resources and later became President of Sony Engineering and Manufacturing for the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Throughout his career, Chuck had the opportunity to cross paths with several notable political figures, including George W. Bush, Governor Tom Ridge, Governor Bob Casey, Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, and Condoleezza Rice.
Chuck served on several boards such as WQED, Point Park University, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Opera, National Action Council for Minority Engineering and the Pittsburgh Community Development Council.
He enjoyed golfing, cooking, World War II history, traveling, driving race cars, and—most of all—spending time with his daughter and grandchildren.
He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
