Avis de décès de John Peter Thomas
AUX SOINS DE

Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center

John P. Thomas, 63, passed away on December 10, 2024, at the Daytona Beach Hospital while surrounded by his wife, daughters, sister and friends.

John was born on March 17, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada but was raised predominantly in Fremont, Michigan. After having graduated High School, John enlisted in the United States Navy. There he served his country aboard a Mine Sweeper ship titled “Esteem”. John greatly enjoyed his time aboard the Navy as it gave him adventure in far off lands, as well as much appreciated life experience.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, John found his passion in law enforcement. After graduating from the academy, he was hired by the Bradenton Police Department. There, he served honorably for 22 years. In his capacity as a police officer, John also performed such duties as; SWAT team operator, hostage negotiator, field training officer, traffic division officer and as a detective.

As a detective, John investigated and made arrests on all sorts of crimes. It is detective work that set John apart from others and also the work itself that he most enjoyed.

After retiring from the city of Bradenton, John found work at the Longboat Key Police Department. There he served as a Sergeant for road patrol for five years.

John greatly enjoyed the topic of World War 2. Around the end of his career, John became a WW2 reenactor and went to many events with the goal of both enjoying himself while teaching others about ‘the greatest generation’.

From the navy to police work, as a detective to reenacting, John created many friendships and made an impression on many people. His joy came from his hobbies which were extensive, well researched and conducted with passion.

John leaves behind his wife, ex-wife, two daughters, one son, three brothers and three sisters, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Located at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes and Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209. A celebration of life will then be held immediately afterwards for family and friends to remember and honor his life.
