Lloyd was born in Far Rockaway, New York as the youngest of five children to Gerry and Jesse Roberts. He enlisted in the Navy as an airmen upon graduation from high school. He served on the USS Philippine Sea in WWII and the USS Block Island during the Korean War. After serving in the Navy Lloyd married his beloved wife Elaine Fabricand and started his career in clothing manufacturing and retail. After a short stint in New York City working for his brother-in-law, Lloyd and Elaine moved to Brunswick, GA and eventually to Jacksonville, FL. Lloyd and Elaine were devoted and loving parents to Richard, Lisa and Steven.
After a decades long career in the clothing business travelling extensively throughout Europe and Asia Lloyd retired in 1994 when VF Corp purchased Nutmeg Mills where he served as Vice President of International Sales for the sports licensed apparel company. During retirement Lloyd pursued his interests in photography, drawing and painting. He loved traveling to remote locations in Africa, both polar regions, South and North America photographing all types of wildlife. His natural eye for detail and self-taught skills in drawing and painting were his passions and pursuits into his 90’s.
Lloyd was predeceased by his wife and two sons. He is survived by his sister Rita, daughter, Lisa (Joshua), grandchildren Sydney (Jake), Richelle (Gary), Perry (Ryan) and Ethan (Luz), as well as great grandchildren Mackenzie, Reese and Joel.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Lloyd by donating in his memory to PARC of St Petersburg, FL, a favorite organization Lloyd supported with his photography and art work.
