

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Alvin Maurice Fisher passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Brampton Civic Hospital in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Barbara (Mary Barbara Jones) for nearly 57 years (October 2nd). Devoted father of Linda (James) Swinnerton and Laura Fisher. Very proud Poppa of Olivia Swinnerton.
Born May 23, 1935 and raised in Toronto (Parkdale) to Albert Maurice and Laura Elizabeth (Watson). He lost his father at a young age and was lovingly referred to as "Bud" by family and friends because of the song that was popular "My Buddy". Alvin worked as an Engineering Technologist for NorTel (Northern Electric/Northern Telecom) for 35 years beginning his career in Belleville and he was transferred to Bramalea in 1965. The "B" section of Bramalea is where Alvin and Barbara bought a home and were blessed with twin girls in 1967, this is where they raised them. After his retirement he enjoyed travelling the world with Barb, travels which included the Great Wall of China, Australia, Alaska, Hawaii, many, many countries in Europe, enjoying various trips with numerous friends. During his retirement he enjoyed Probus, working at the Family History Centre, genealogy, computer club, investment club, walking group, horse racing, square dancing, bridge, and cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays.
Visitation will be held at Andrews Funeral Home 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, Ontario on Thursday, September 8th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral will take place at Emmanuel United Church, 420 Balmoral Drive, Brampton, Ontario on Friday, September 9th at 11 a.m., reception to follow in the church hall. The funeral will be live streamed for those of you who are unable to attend.
