The world became a little less bright and lost some of its humour when Christine Forsyth McGougan (nee McGeachie) passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Etobicoke General Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. In her final moments, Christine was surrounded by the love and care of her family members.
Christine was born on November 12, 1946, in Annathill, Scotland, to Agnes (née Murphy) and James McGeachie. It was in Scotland that her great love story with Brian McGougan began, and in 1967, they married and immigrated to Canada to build a new life.
Christine leaves behind her devoted husband, Brian McGougan and loving children, Paul McGougan (Ida) and Lesley McGougan. She is predeceased by her parents, James and Agnes McGeachie, and her siblings, John and Beryl. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Teresa McGeachie, and her goddaughter and niece, Charlene McGeachie. Christine was a creative and much-loved 'Oonie' to Breanna, Meagan, and her great-niece, Jennaiya Berrotte. Christine touched the lives of many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and dear friends.
Known for her quick wit and thoughtfulness, Christine will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family asks that she be remembered for the light and love she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.
A visitation will occur from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Monday, March 18, 2024, with a service to follow at Andrews Community Funeral Centre - Bramalea Chapel. For those wishing to make donations, the family requests that donations in her name be made to Diabetes Canada or The Movement Disorders Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital.
