Copeland Karl Wedderburn was born on November 6, 1966 in Belleville Ontario, to Copeland Sr. & Crescent Wedderburn. Karl, as everyone knew him, is predeceased by his mother Crescent Wedderburn and his sister Shirley Wedderburn and is survived by his brother Gary Gordon, who lives in Toronto. Karl is a father to his precious daughter Alexandrea who he dearly loved. She was the apple of his eye and they were inseparable.
Karl attended elementary and secondary school in Kingston, Ontario. The number of activities he was involved in as a youth could hardly be counted which included Boys Scout, Navy Reserve, Hockey, Lacrosse and Soccer, just to name a few. His desire to pursue post secondary education led him to Carlton University in Ottawa, Ontario for 3 years and completed his 4th year at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work. Karl later completed a degree in Immigration Law at Ryerson University.
After University, he moved to Ottawa for employment with Canada Post that lasted for a few years because he was passionate about pursuing a career in Social Work. This brought him to Toronto where he obtained employment at Toronto Employment & Social Services, working at High Park, Parkdale and The Queensway offices. His employment there lasted for almost 20 years. He worked ardently and was well respected by both his co-workers and his clients. Karl would go to any distance to ensure his clients obtained the services and referrals that they required for their well-being.
You will never find a person with a bigger smile than Karl. His heart was huge and his love for family and friends were endless. Until her departure in September 2020, Karl was the apple of his mother’s eye and she was his world. To his father, he was a one of a kind son. He was his primary caregiver; he was his 'hands and feet' and was by his side at all times. Never could his Dad imagine that when Karl left him on Thursday, June 24 with instructions to take Friday off in order to spend time with his daughter and return on Saturday, that this would be their last time together.
Karl will be sadly missed by his daughter Alexandrea, Sylvia, father Copeland Sr., brother Gary, uncles, aunts, many cousins, other relatives, numerous friends and acquaintances.
Rest in peace dear Karl and thanks for all you have done. Your work on earth is done and now you can spend eternity with your mother and the others who went on before you.
Sleep on beloved, sleep and take your rest.
