It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Debra (Debbie) Romenick of Brampton on March 29 2024, aged 65. Survived by her loving partner John Thompson whom stood adoringly by her side for 30 years. Most treasured daughter to Elizabeth (Betty) Romenick-McIntosh and the late John Romenick.
Beloved mother to Ashleigh Thompson (Stephen Gadzala) and step-mother to Lisa Thompson (Ollie Marsh) and Jennifer Thompson (Ray Allan). Cherished grandmother to Aden, Hudson, and Amelia. Debbie will also be dearly missed by her brother John (Ian) Romenick (Mila Romenick).
Debbie will always be remembered as a person to turn to in difficult times and was always determined to provide unyielding support to those she loved. Even in sickness she put forth great effort in making sure those around her knew that she stood by them. Despite her often-frail health she always remained optimistic that there would be a path to recovery. She always looked forward to her weekend visits with family, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow. Often finding humour in the different ways Amelia directed her Grandpa “Bo” to play.
A once active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Debbie enjoyed serving and attending meetings beside her mother Betty. She often spoke of the many friendships she formed during her time in the Star and her love of the community it fostered.
A visitation will be held for Debbie on Friday April 5th 2024 from 10am – 12pm at Andrews Community Funeral Centre – Bramalea Chapel, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton ON. A Celebration of Life service will take place in the Chapel of the funeral home beginning at 12pm.
If desired, in memoriam donations in Debbie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
