Jack passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 8, 2014 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Doris (McDermid) for 63 years. Devoted father of Michael (Linda) and Julie (Daniel) and loving Gramps to Adam (Courtney) and Ashley (Peter). Jack was a proud Canadian war veteran, having served in the Canadian Armed Forces, Army in WWII. Jack was born in Toronto to Gattas and Mamie on August 5, 1922. The 5th of 10 children, he is survived by his sister Jean and predeceased by sisters Lenda and Mary and brothers Harold, George, Godfrey, Edward, Philip and Jim. Fondly remembered by his Brother-in-Laws and Sister-in-Laws. We often said we have cousins by the dozens and dad dearly loved all his nieces and nephews and the special times everyone spent together starting at the family home on Ferndale Avenue and various family events which recently included Adam and Courtney’s wedding on December 31, 2013. Jack was always smiling and could be counted on for a story or joke (sometimes colourful), to make us smile too. Jack had a career in the textile and manufacturing industry when manufacturing was thriving on King St. in Toronto and retired as the Vice President of a US owned company. He was also active in his church, St. John’s Anglican in Weston for many years. Wise, generous and kind, Jack saw the good in others and we are grateful for the many examples he set. The family wants to thank the staff at Extendicare Brampton and his private caregiver Michael Cuaresma who provided special care and friendship.
