It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John-Anthony Brown on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at home at the age of 68, with his wife, Michelle, and daughter, Brianna, lovingly by his side. The loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend leaves a space that can never be filled, yet his presence—his laughter, his strength, and his unwavering devotion—will remain with us always.
He cared deeply and loved immensely, always putting the well-being of others before his own. His warmth and humour touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Even those who met him only in passing—sometimes for the briefest of moments—felt the distinct kindness and calm strength that he carried with him through the reassuring timbre of his voice.
During his years as a police officer in the Houston Police Department, John-Anthony served his community with unwavering dedication and integrity. In August 2001, he began a new chapter when he moved from the US to Canada with his wife, Michelle, and daughter, Brianna. There, he transitioned into a career in Corporate Aviation Security Management, bringing with him the same strong work ethic that had defined his earlier service through to his retirement.
John-Anthony had many passions, including golfing, website design, watching true-crime documentaries, and travelling worldwide. However, above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his loved ones, finding his deepest happiness in their company.
He is survived by Michelle, his devoted partner in all things, and by his children, Duane (spouse: Marija), Taurean (partner: Christianna), Jacquelyn (spouse: John), and Brianna, who adore him beyond measure. He also leaves behind a loving extended family, including siblings, DeGaulle Jr. (spouse: Corliss), Bruce, and Veronica (spouse: Dean); as well as his cherished nieces and nephews: Courtney, DeGaulle III, Christopher, Danielle, Chase, Alexandria, Cailley, Caullen, Eric, and Darius. He was a proud grandfather to Elyjah, Isaac, Daniel, Taeo, Dario, Lucas, Tatiana, Kaija, Amiah, and William. He is predeceased by his father and mother, DeGaulle Sr and Lillian Brown.
To his family, he was our protector, our steady place, and the vibrant heart of our home. He brought light into ordinary days and joy into the smallest moments. Whether through a well-timed joke, a reassuring word, or simply by being near, he made those around him feel safe, cherished, and uplifted.
We will honour his life privately among family and friends, and celebrate the love, laughter, and protection he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the home he built with us, the memories we all share, and the love he instilled.
Rest in peace and in the presence of the Lord, John-Anthony, knowing how deeply we all cherish you. You will live on in our hearts forever.
