It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that daughters Wendy and Cindy announce the peaceful passing of their father Johannes Wilhelmus Klok (John) at age 95. John passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning March 7th 2017 at Georgetown Hospital after a 10 week stay there first surviving pneumonia however, not bouncing back. John was born on February 4th, 1922. Beloved husband of the late Ellen Klok (nee Kuyl). Loving father of Cynthia Simmons and Wendy Klok. Cherished grandfather of Andy, Jesse and Shekinah. Survived by brother Gerard Klok in Holland and sisters Hennie Mosterd and Alie Klok in Australia. John was a very kind person. His family was very important to him and his motto to never loose one’s humour in life will be well remembered by his grand-children. He loved people and loved to go for coffee and chat with all, young and old. For many years John loved playing the Dutch card game ‘KlaverJassen”. In his younger years he was an avid fishermen and his daughters will always remember eel fishing and cooking. Up till the very end he greeted people and nurses at the hospital with a smile and a joke. He will be greatly missed! There will be no formal funeral or reception. However, we have created this on-line obituary to also include a photo album of John’s life for all to enjoy and we ask you to leave a word in the on-line Guestbook. John has been cremated and will be placed with his wife Ellen in the existing niche in columbarium “HOPE” at Greenwood cemetery in Georgetown. A small celebration of life will be held grave-side at a future date just to close family. Should friends so desire, donations in memory of John may be sent to the Alzheimers Research & Prevention Foundation: https://arpf.donorshops.com/product/Tribute/tributedonation.php
