I was so lucky to have met him after discovering their family through my genealogy hunt.He also managed to sort my computer from across the water!!We shared a passion for the same music. Gone but not forgotten cuz.

Myself, my wife Karen and young daughter Katie, shed a tear yesterday for Kevin. 

He wasn't just our computer techie. And we weren't just his clients. Kevin made friends instantly with his warm personality and we always welcomed him to our home as our friend. 
I trusted him with our computers like no other before or since. A brilliant man that left us too soon.
He will not be forgotten. 

Rest in peace my friend and know that you touched everyone with your warmth.

Today at 11:00am, on the first anniversary of Kevin's death, we are interring Kevin's cremains in a glass fronted niche at Glendale Memorial Gardens, 1810 Albion Road in Etobicoke.  The niche is in All Saints Mausoleum, Second floor,  Niche 352537, just left from the elevator at the south-west end of the building.   His parents will be in the niche beside Kevin when the time comes.

Kevin's cremains have been placed in a bronze urn bearing a Celtic cross, and the inscription:   Kevin Matthew O'Reilly    July 15, 1964 -  May 16, 2016    Loving Son of Jack and Diane    Brother of Keith, Noreen and Tyler     Always in our hearts  

We chose a glass niche so we could include some items that show who Kevin is and his pastimes.   Anyone going to visit will be able to see who Kevin was in his lifetime and some of the things he enjoyed and, they may recall some of their past memories of Kevin by seeing some of those items. Each one of those items has meaning in Kevin's life.  

It has been a very long, difficult year for our family and, although we try to be strong, we are still suffering deeply from his loss.   We often talk about his brilliance with computers, his sense of humour, his good moods and bad moods, the jokes he liked to play, his love of all things Batman, and so many other things.   

We thank friends of ours, and friends and clients of Kevin's, for their continued support and stories about him and how much he and his talents are missed.


Words cannot explain the depth of despair at the loss of your child.

I heard the very sad news about Kevin recently and came across this notice and thought that it is never too late to send you my warm thoughts and a virtual hug. In high school I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to spend so much time hanging around your house (with Keith) and I have many wonderful memories.  Kevin was never short on jokes and had the brightest smile, he had the strongest sense of independence, the coolest taste in music and a very kind heart.  I am very sorry for your loss. Today would be Kevin's 52nd birthday, and we want to remember this day as if he was still with us.   Kevin was our first born child, and brother to Keith, Noreen and Tyler.   We are all so sad, broken-hearted, and bereft at Kevin's loss.   We love and miss him so much, and wish we could understand.  

We would like to thank so many people for coming to celebrate Kevin's life and offer condolences on May 25th.  We were overwhelmed with the two hundred people who came out that day.   Family, friends, and colleagues of our family; Kevin's friends, colleagues, and many of Kevin's clients came to share their memories of him with the whole family.  One of Kevin's high school teachers, and one of the former officers in charge of 758 Argus Air Cadet Squadron also came to offer their condolences.   We also appreciate the comments online, all the sympathy cards sent, and donations made in his memory.

Kevin would have been so proud of the outpouring of love and care for him and the family, and the lovely things that were spoken about him.   Kevin was so often funny and loved to tease people.   He was a gentle person, brilliant with computers, kind and patient with his clients, quiet - but loved to talk, Kevin was very private, loved to travel, loved to scuba dive, reflective, generous with others, sometimes found life difficult, and was in ill health for so many years and very private about his health.  He was all that and so much more.    

This is an extremely difficult day for our family.    We are grateful for the years we did have with Kevin, and will always mourn his death.  

Kevin will never be forgotten as long as someone speaks his name.

Our sincere condolences to you all.   Kevin had worked for us at Mayfield Contracting Group for years.  We all liked him very much and this was a big shock.  I had personally spoken to him 2 days prior so I knew he wasn't feeling well but never imagined how ill he actually was.  He was kind and chatty and we discovered we shared the same music interests.  In fact I used to tour a bit with Adam and the Ants when I lived in England and he was a huge fan.  He showed me some professional modelling photographs of himself as Adam Ant and  we shared many good memories of our lives back then.  He was a good man and Bob Gillan and I will miss him.

We will always remember Kevin for his gentle nature and world wide knowledge.  He made my life easier with his expertise.  We'll miss having his visits and stories and seeing his little red V.W. show up, rain or shine.

There are so many wonderful traits that Kevin held but what I remember most was his brilliance. We had so much fun competing on IQ tests back in 1996. The two of us were the Mensa Masters of the upper scoring percentile.  I am going to miss him so much. Thank you for the beautiful photos shared here. I first met Kevin when I was in desperate need of help.  I was covering for my husband Mosh at his catering business when the computer shut down.  Recalling Diane's pride in sharing stories of Kevin's computer expertise, I reached out to Kevin for help. He rescued me immediately, diagnosing the problem quickly and telling me exactly what equipment I needed and where to get it.  Kevin refused any payment for his time and this distressed me.  After a little detective work I learned that he loved Subway, so I was able to at least give him a token of appreciation for his generosity.  Later on I had the good fortune to spend more time with Kevin at the O'Reilly home. I enjoyed our chats and getting to know him a little more.  At this very difficult time, Mosh and I pray that you will all find comfort in your cherished memories and celebration of Kevin's Life.

Although my wife and I did not meet Kevin. As part of your extended family and as parents I could never imagine what is going through your mind with losing a son or daughter. May the many years you had with Kevin and the wonderful memories built over that time keep fresh in your hearts. God bless and we are thinking of you during this difficult time. I am truly sorry for your loss.  Kevin had become a true friend, and I am going to miss our talks.  He always had a story to share, and it was fun listening to him.  He came out for my boyfriends art show one year, and it was so appreciative.  He didn't always have time for visits, but could always give you 5 mins to chat.
When he started his business O'Reilly Tech, I felt honoured he had asked for my opinion.  His passing is truly saddening for all.  A super awesome man and I am privileged to have known him.

I knew Kevin when I was a teenager.  Although many years have passed since we have seen each other, I am saddened to hear of his passing.  My condolences to the whole family.

It was a story in our local newspaper about Kevin that got me to join Nerds On Site.

I worked with him for the next several years - even after we had both moved on.

I will miss his readiness to help anyone who asked.

We have been blessed over the past 30 years or so to enjoy the company of Jake and Diane O'Reilly on our many visits to Canada to perform at concerts.  We also were able to spend brief moments getting to know and appreciate their children as they were growing up.

Today we wish to remember their son Kevin, a tall, slim, good looking young man who seemed to be taller every time we saw him.

He was always very polite and seemed to have a sincere interest and appreciation of our gypsies on the road lifestyle.  Our conversations crossed many different subjects including music, the entertainment scene, local and national news, and the ever changing digital and complex world (to us) of computers and the internet. When it came to computers he was able to simplify the language so we could understand what he was talking about.  It was his world and we were always amazed at his knowledge.  He also got us hooked up with Skype which we had not considered until he explained the benefits to us.  

When Kevin moved into his own place and was working in the technical computer market, we always knew Kevin was back home when we would drive up and see his beetle bug car out front or in the driveway.  It was probably the boldest statement we ever saw from Kevin and we got a kick out of seeing his colourful little red car with his company's information all over it like a billboard on four wheels.  It was the contrast that made us smile; the soft spoken young man with the loud coloured car.

We appreciated his gentle spirit, and conversations with Kevin were always enjoyable.

Our hearts are saddened at the loss of this bright young man way too soon, and we speak blessings of healing and comfort over the family along with our heartfelt sympathy to them all.

It's very sad news to here about Kevin's passing.  Whenever I think of him it brings back so many memories of growing up in Orillia.  My sincerest condolences to the family and I wish all of you the best during this difficult time.

I am so saddened to learn of the passing of Kevin, whom I considered as a friend as well as my favorite and only techie. He was a genius with computers and no problem was ever too big for him to handle.
