Leonard James Beckingham

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard James Beckingham, who peacefully left us on February 9, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph, Ontario, where he was lovingly cared for the past several years.

Len was born on July 14, 1926, in Camberwell, England to James and Sarah Beckingham. He was the beloved husband of the late Hilda Victoria Beckingham and the loving father to Linda and Clive (pre-deceased). He was also a proud and devoted grandfather/poppa to Melanie (Ed) and Amanda (Jeff), and a cherished great-grandfather/poppa to Alex, Nathan, and Maddie.

Len was a man of strength, integrity, and warmth. He proudly served his country in the British Army before embarking on a fulfilling career as a Technical Instrument Maker, both in England and Canada, where he and Hilda immigrated to in 1967, following their daughter Linda.

Throughout his years, Len’s kindness and quiet strength left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy of love will be carried on by his family and friends, who take great comfort in the cherished memories of his gentle spirit, wit and generosity. His love, wisdom and presence will forever remain in our hearts.

A celebration of Len’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Andrews Community Funeral Centre - Bramalea Chapel, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, Ontario. Visitation is 1 hour prior to service. Following the service, the family invites guests to join them for a reception at the funeral home. A private ash scattering ceremony will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
