

Margaret Mair nee Hunter died peacefully on March 3, 2017 in Oakville, Ontario. Margaret was born in Toronto and grew up in Edmonton. She graduated from the University of Alberta Medical School and began a long and distinguished career as a pediatrician. She practiced in Toronto, London, UK finally settling down in Montreal. She worked in private practice and at The Montreal Children's hospital for over 30 years and served in the Cleft Palate Clinic for many years. This work was truly the joy of her life. Upon retirement Margaret moved to Victoria, British Columbia and became involved with the Horticultural Center of the Pacific. Margaret was an avid art collector and an artist herself. She also loved her garden and a good game of golf. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Ian of 56 years. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Tim Gardiner) and her son Douglas (Christy Slasor). Her four wonderful grandchildren, Charlotte, Rob, Jessica and Heather will miss her very much. She is predeceased by her sister Winifred and survived by sisters Nancy and Elizabeth. Margaret was a woman with enormous passion for anything she took an interest in. She will be remembered for her dedication to others, her commitment and her quest for knowledge. She was both kind and stubborn and had a very generous heart. A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sunrise of Oakville and to Kushi and Emebet for their tireless help and endless love. Also thanks to the staff at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Victoria Foundation or the charity of your choice. A celebration of life ceremony will be arranged in Victoria in April
