Orlando (Orly) Lim grew up in Pasay City, Metro Manila. Born to Fausta Torres Lim and Antonio Lim. Orly was the 2nd Eldest sibling of six, also the eldest Son. At the young age of 13 he was forced to work and provide for the family when his father died. Orly graduated from Adamson University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Orly met his beloved wife Celia, while both working for the same company in the Philippines. The couple decided to get married before migrating to Canada in 1974 where their only dreams were to have a chance to live a comfortable life while financially support their families back home. Not long after, Orly managed to sponsor 2 of his younger sisters, brother and mother in to Canada. His older sister had migrated and settled to the US a few years prior.
Shortly after immigrating to Canada, the arrival of 2 Sons; Christopher and Jonathan, brought Orly and Celia great joy along with new sets of problems that many parents raising 2 boys face. Raising their 2 sons into independent men and fathers is a lasting reminder of the legacy Orly has created with his children and grandchildren (Tristan, Brooklyn, Tyson & Abigail)
in 1991 Orly was forced to change careers, Orly’s younger brother Tony, was running a flourishing Filipino Store called TJ&J and encouraged Orly to get into the wholesale food business. With Tonys guidance, Orly found his way into the wholesale business and the two brothers found much success. In 96’ Orly’s business took over TJ&J and evolved into Orcel Foods. This business then expanded into Orcel Travel, Orcel Catering and then into Orcel Asian Cuisine.
Orly retired in 2011 and decided to escape the cold winters, quickly becoming a snowbird travelling back and forth from Florida. In retirement Orly went on many adventures; exploring and RVing all over North America, he spent 6 weeks sailing and navigating through the Carribean and South America all while documenting and photographing the entire experience. The travelled to many places and was able to experience the world. Orly also enjoyed singing karaoke, playing golf, fishing, riding his bike and taking his friends and family on his boat while exploring the nearby lakes and rivers. However his favourite pastime was spending time with his wife and grandchildren.
