Peter Joseph Poirier

It was with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Peter Poirier. At the age of 53 his short battle with kidney cancer ended sadly on September 20, 2015 at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Born and raised in Campbellton New Brunswick and later moved to Ontario. Loving husband of Eleanor for 23 years. Dedicated father of Monique and Matthew. Beloved son of the late Gerard and Helene Poirier of Campbellton New Brunswick. Loving brother of 12 sisters and brothers: Leona Poirier, the late Roger Poirier (Marie Paule), Leonard Poirier (late Myrtle), Jacques Poirier, Anita Malenfant (Aurele), Rachel Pitre (Ghislain), Richard Poirier (Gisele), the late Robert Poirier, the late Pauline Vienneau (Danny), Denis Poirier (Karen), Lise Diotte (George), Carole Gibbs (Roger). Loving uncle to 29 nieces and nephews. Loving brother in law to Judy Ward (Kelvin) and Gloria Williams (Rick)

Peter was an avid sports enthusiast and had a deep passion for the sport of hockey and the Montreal Canadiens hockey team. He enjoyed playing golf with his son Matthew, brother Denis and friends. He helped coach his son Matthew and his hockey and baseball teams over the years as well as coached his daughter Monique's softball team. He will be remembered for his hard work, smile, his good humour, his love of music and his deep love for family and the outdoors.
