Violet Marjorie Greaves Johnson

May 14, 1929 to August 30, 2012

Violet went home to rest in the welcome arms of Jesus on Thursday August 30, 2012. She was predeceased by her first husband Basil Lismore in 1990 and her second husband Reginald Johnson in 2009. Violet was the sixth of eight children, born to British mother Minnie Greaves (nee Jeavons) and Welsh father Walter Greaves. She was predeceased by sister Lucy, and brothers Arthur and Jack. She will be missed by sisters Doris and Ivy and brothers Albert and Norman. Beloved mother of Lydia Dawson, Stephen Lismore, and Carolyn Keefer, she will be fondly remembered by her 11 grandchildren: Angela McCabe, Sean Dawson, Jessica Dawson-Gaglione, James Lismore, Christopher Keefer, Robin Lismore, Kirk Dawson, Rosalinde Lismore, Nathanial Keefer, Hannah Dawson and Simon Lismore. She was also blessed with 7 great grandchildren: Isabel, Patrick, Katelyn, Ryan, Megan, Stephanie and Rachel.

Violet was born in rural Manitoba experiencing the hardship of the depression years. Her family moved to Fort William (Thunder Bay) and later to Toronto where Violet finished her schooling.

She was trained as a secretary and spent many years as a valued assistant to lawyers and Supreme Court judges.

She lived for years in Richmond Hill where she and Basil raised their 3 children. She was an industrious women & ahead of her time - learning to drive, can vegetables from her garden, sew clothes for her family and care for many pets while also working outside the home to ensure her children were well taken care of.

In 1978, after her first marriage had ended in divorce, Violet married Reginald Johnson and they lived in Etobicoke, Malton and Brampton. Always active and involved she especially loved to watch her children and grandchildren perform on stage. She will also be fondly remembered by her many Avon customers.

Violet eventually took up residence in the Etobicoke Leisureworld Nursing Home where she lived until her passing on August 30th.

Visitation will be held at Andrews Community Funeral Centre (8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, north of Steeles, 905-456-8190) on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home Chapel.
