Angela Veronica Simmons Johnson

Angela Veronica Simmons-Johnson, age eighty-one of Tampa, Florida passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. Angela was predeceased by her beloved husband Oscar Johnson. She was born on October 21, 1944, in Potters Village, Antigua to the late Joseph T. Simmons and Gladys M. Kirwan Simmons. She migrated to the United States in the early sixties and lived in Manhattan, New York. She attended and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School and worked various jobs before ending her career as a Medical Transporter at New York Medical Hospital.

Angela will be remembered for her strength, sense of humor, generosity, and for the love she shared with her family and friends.

She touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. She loved to dance and listened to the sounds of Soca music and her taste in music reflected her vibrant personality.

Angela had quick wit, a generous heart, and a knack for making everyone laugh. She was known for her love of parties, love of food, big personality, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. She was incredibly organized, detail-oriented, and took great pride in doing things the right way.

Angela is survived by her daughter, Gizelle Crumpler, son Pierre Crumpler, her grandson Pierre and her granddaughter Tanesha Sanae. She is also survived by her adopted daughters Tinisha “Niecy” Bryant, Jacqueline Penninton, special friends, Summer Thornill, Olga Mitchell, Addie, Alford Hunte, Patricia London, James Roschevitz, Chasidy, Denise, honorary grandsons, Ali Bryant and Addison Gregory.

She leaves behind a loving family, including brother Roland Simmons, a host family in Antigua, Tampa Florida, Texas and Indiana.

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun.

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Visitation will be held at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511 on April 18, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home at 2:00 pm. A Committal Service will take place at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511 on April 18, 2026, at 3:00.

Her family and friends will forever hold her memories close to their hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to charity or cause. Angela will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
