Carlos was born in Pisgah, Alabama to his predeceased parents, Reverend Grady Vandiver Underwood and Jessie Totherow Underwood.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia V Underwood. His children, Vickie Hammond, Mickie Smith (Eric), Frankie Hammond, Sr., Cindy Turner (Tim ), Wayne Hammond (Shirlene), Cheryl Riley (Don), Marty Hammond, Carla Underwood. He has 11 grandchildren, Jack Tyler (Cathy), Frankie Hammond Jr,
Eric Wayne Smith, Patricia Smith, Alvin Dingler, Joshua Smith, Jessica Hammond, Robbie Dingler, Adam Seligman, and Tyler Hammond, Cody Moran;15 Great grand-children; 3 Great-Great grandchildren.
Carlos leaves behind his best friend Lloyd Joyner. Eddie McNish who over the past many years has become like a son to Carlos and Pat. He was predeceased by his brothers Leonard and Athylon (Ed), sisters, Lucille Prestwood, Laura Jones, surviving Pluma Bethune. Carlos was an avid believer in his Christian faith believing strongly in the Lord, Jesus Christ. He was an excellent guitarist, and singer who with his immediate family held church concerts and recorded gospel music. He also loved country music, especially Willie Nelson and was lead guitar in a group called The Nite Owls, playing together for many years. Carlos will be missed as he was loved by all with his abundant quiet, humble and sweet spirit.
The family will receive friends and family at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9th, 2024. With services beginning at 8:00 p.m. officiating Pastor, Steve Barber at the Landmark Baptist Ministries, 6021 Williams Road, Seffner, FL 33584.
Burial will be at Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery, 2323 W Brandon Blvd., Brandon, FL. 33511 on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.
