I still miss you brother and you've been gone for almost 12 years now. I miss working with you, I miss playing music with you. I miss your presence, I miss the coolest guy I've ever known  in my life. Dave"o"!! 
You introduced me your amazing buddy K-Bob and now he's gone. I can only hope to God that you guys are hanging out and playing music. 
I love you and miss you so much. 

Monday October 8th 2017 1:10 am I was laying in the bed humming the entire show from year we were on cymbals together in the marching band and wondered where you, Chris Gregory and Chris Hall aka "Lester" were. I thought about how we watched the drum corp vids that Bill Pendergrass our drum line instructor showed us. I said let's copy Santa Clara Vanguard and Garfield Cadets and do visuals. So we huddled one day during summer practice and unveiled our visuals at the end of our opener the theme to the bad news bears. JR stopped everything and came running across the field from the podium and asked us "what the hell was that". We all paused and said "uh .. visuals." True inside joke cause we were mimicking you David and your ode to Beavis and Butthead. JR paused and then yelled " the cymbal line has been thinking outside the box! Don't let the cymbals out work you!" We all let out a collective sigh and the rest was history. 3 men and a lady .. we were innovators for high school cymbal lines and NB Broughton Golden Regiment trendsetters. Any way, once I got to the last song of the 4 song set and started to hum "So Very Hard To Go" I started to cry. I remember that spring in Virginia Beach and the video from that winning weekend. As we walked to the front sideline and got ready for our final turn when we held for Greg Faucette and the other snares to walk with us and play our cymbals as rides, there stood my grandma, my uncle - her brother and his wife my aunt. All cheering all proud. I remember the tingle I felt cause my grandma had made the trip with my family all the way from Raleigh and my aunt and uncle lived just minutes from the ocean ...  and lying here I remembered they were all gone. Then I decided to look for you guys and all I found was you. I cried cause I missed my family and thought about all the "ghosts" now that once were with me on that tape. And I cried again. That was one of the best years of my life thanks to you and the guys. Wish I could've told you how cool it was, if you didn't know, to be part of the best cymbal line in history at Broughton. But now you're one of the ghost and I'm sad you're gone but I will never forget you " Dave." So many memories, "so very hard to go." Rest well my friend

I am so sorry about Dave's passing.  I was just thinking about you guys not too long ago and what you have been up to.  I really liked Dave in the short time that I knew him.

I hope you and the girls are doing as well as you can.  The one thing I remember when my father suddenly died that helped me through my time of grief was that "time heals all wounds."

If you ever come through Tallahasse again, please let us know, Donna and I would love to see you and meet the girls.

Julia: I just found out. I am so sorry for this great loss. Dave was one of a kind .He is someone not to be forgotten. Please don't hesitate to let me know if I can ever help you in any way. Tampa is not that far from Tallahassee.

Julia...I have thought about you and your sweet girls day after day...I am so sorry this happened.  God had a reason, even though we don't understand.  I love you and please know that I am praying for you...

Diamond Dave!!! 
 I still find it so hard to belive that I will never get to see my brother. Dave and I were best friends from day one. I had the fortunate blessing growing up with him and his family. I still drive by the house he, (we grew up in) and feel like I can walk right in like the old days. We spent our 40th birthday at my house with our other brother (Eric stuart) we had a blast just like old days. He had a heart of gold and will always be in my heart. I will bless the day when I get to see him again in the house of the lord. Even though he is gone from this world I know he is charming and caring for others in after life. My family and I were planning to see him the week he passsed and had the opportuninty to go to the service. I was hard for me but and still is..... I miss you Diamond!!!!!!!!!! The friendship you gave me will always be special... May you tender soul and kind heart rest in peace. I will see you again on the other side... Love you brother !!!!

David was very well thought of as you can see by all of the comments from NBHS alumn.  He was a very special person.  David always made you feel welcome no matter who you were.  I wish you and your girls had the opportunity to know him as so many of us did.  There will never be anyone who can replace him in our hearts and yours.  Our prayers are with you.  The only comfort I can give to you at this time is to know that he is in a much better place.  Do not weep for him because he weeps for you knowing what a great place he is in now, where you are and that you are not with him.  God bless.

David was one of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever known.  After sharing laughs with him from middle school through high school, I know that I and many others he touched in his life will miss him greatly.  I wish his family peace and courage in this great time of sadness.  Know that David will live on brightly in our memories.

David is one of my favorites. Having gone to high school and college together, I really got to know just how cool he was. An excellent musician and writer. At UNCW, we had so many good times always filled with laughter. I will really miss that guy. A genuine person with a huge heart. See u in the afterlife Dave O :)

David was a wonderful friend in high school, always had a smile on his face and was so sweet. He will be missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

I met Dave 8 years ago at Camp Hugs sponsored by Tampa Carrollwood Rotary at Camp Florida in Brandon. (It is an annual event that gives a weekend of holiday fun to children with cancer and blood disorders and their siblings.) You really get to know someone when you are kitchen crew together especially when you are part of pots and pan brigade.  Dave always did everything whole-heartedly. He met the challenges that life threw his way.  We will miss Dave and the way he always put people he met at ease as if they were friends just waiting to be made.
