

Donna was born on January 25, 1942, in Jamestown, New York, to Kenneth and M. Marie (Heintz) Kreutz. On November 3, 1962, she married the love of her life, L. Gary Hooks, who survives. Graduating from Jamestown High School, she spent the early part of her years in and around the Chautauqua County, New York area and relocated to the Brandon, Florida area in 1968.
Donna devoted her life to her family. She was a stay-at-home wife and mother and, for many years, also lovingly cared for 27 children over 21 years, while their parents worked. Her home was always a place of warmth, patience, and quiet strength. In her younger years, Donna enjoyed camping, boating, and baking, creating lasting memories that her family continues to cherish.
She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, L. Gary Hooks; her son, Gary (Marie) Hooks of North Charleston, South Carolina; and her daughter, Denise (David) McIntosh of Spencer, Indiana. She was a proud grandmother to Scott Bozek of Spencer, Indiana; Gary Allen Hooks of North Charleston, South Carolina; and Megan (Kyle) Basham of Danville, Indiana, and a loving great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren, Liam, Lucus, Lydia, Analiese, Titan, Axten, Dreyk, and Radyn.
Donna is also survived by her brother, Butch (Sandy) Kreutz of Falconer, New York; her niece, Kami Myers of New York; her sisters-in-law, Martie King of Sinclairesville, New York; Kimberly Hooks of Plum Branch, South Carolina; and Luppa (Gary) Henry of Dewittville, New York; along with numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; Doris Pearl (Drake) Harriger (Grandma Toots), who helped raise her, her nephew, Kenneth Kreutz; her sisters-in-law, Pauletta Mertens and Gretta Freeman; and most recently, her brother-in-law, James Michael Hooks.
Private services are planned, with interment to take place at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens in Brandon, Florida.
