
Dorothy Gene Polite (Dot Gene, Pretty Red), age 76 passed away February 23, 2013, with her family by her side in Brandon, Fl. A visitation will be 6:00 p.m.-8;00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, and a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon FL 33511. She was born February 29, 1936 in Wynne, Arkansas (razor back) to Gussie Lee Haskin and London Haskin. Dorothy was caring, giving, and full of life and love, colorful, one of a kind, all about family, smiles, fun and happy times. She loved everyone and never met a stranger through her travels around the world with her husband Earnest who retired after 23 years of military service. Dorothy was a mother to all always lending a loving hand to discipline and take care of children. She was well known for her famous quotes and jokes: When asked how are you today, she would always respond: “I am fine as wine and prettier in the summer time.” “Shoot that’s to high I can get it for a dollar.” “Did I ever tell you about the time………. Yes well let me tell you…(momma you told us already), “I have 5 children and 10 grand children and 4 great grands, my youngest is 40 and I’m 39… .” When saying good bye she would always say, “Make sure you stay out of trouble.”
Dorothy was an antique collector and enjoyed shopping at yard sales and flea markets always collecting valuable items that she often would give away to friends and family leaving them with a smile. She enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets, and The Dollar Store.
She leaves to cherish, her loving memories with her devoted husband of over 50 years to Earnest Polite. A loving mother to Deborah Polite, Fritz Polite (Becky), Yvette Polite-Dennis (Charles), Shawn Polite-Bledsoe (Paul) and Bruce Polite (Crystal), Grandchildren: Antione Polite (Laura), Amber Polite, Chantae Polite, Earnest Quinn Polite, Shane Cross, JaQuail Lawrence, Raven Polite, Fidel Dennis, Donzell Polite, Nicholas Cross, Damon Polite, and 2 Great grandchildren: Ayana Polite, Rayne Clay. Brothers Leottice, London, James Willie, Dewight, Purnell & Levertis Haskin, sisters Girtha Guillory, Clementine Copeland, Arlester Mcdonald and a host of family and friends.
