Ferne Kistner, a beloved educator and cherished member of her community, passed away on May 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and kindness. Born in Connecticut, Ferne embraced the warmth and vibrancy of the South, where she spent the majority of her life making a profound impact on the lives of countless students.
For three decades, Ferne dedicated herself to the field of education, serving as both a teacher and administrator in Florida and Louisiana. Her commitment to nurturing young minds went beyond the classroom walls, as she worked tirelessly to create supportive environments where students could thrive academically and emotionally.
Ferne's love for education was matched only by her love for the arts. With a deep appreciation for theater and culture, she found joy in attending performances and supporting local artists. It was in the vibrant streets of New Orleans where Ferne's spirit truly flourished, captivated by the city's rich history and artistic expression.
Those who knew Ferne remember her as a beacon of warmth and compassion, always ready to offer a listening ear or a comforting smile. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who had the privilege of crossing her path.
In her passing, Ferne leaves behind a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and students. Yet, her legacy of love, learning, and laughter will continue to inspire generations to come.
Though she may be gone, Ferne Kistner's spirit will forever live on in the lives she touched and the memories she created. May she rest in peace, knowing that her impact on the world will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her children Kelly Spaugh, Mark Mann, John Mann and her step-children David Kistner, Brian Kistner, and Ann-Marie Kistner.
The family would like to thank Pat Guerrero for the care and compassion she showed our loved one in her final days.
