Georgiana was born January 14, 1920 in Bloomingdale, New Jersey to Edward and Ada Miller. She spent her childhood in the townships of northern New Jersey, attending Butler High School where she pitched for the local baseball team, igniting a lifelong love affair with the sport.
Joining the workforce in wartime, she worked as an ammunitions inspector for DuPont. In 1941 she met her future husband, Arthur Merish, on a double date at a roller rink. Arthur was there with Georgiana's friend and she was there with his, but things soon sorted themselves out and, after Arthur's service in the Mediterranean Theater was complete, the couple married on June 3, 1945 at Christ Church in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey.
In 1958 the couple moved to Apollo Beach in the twelfth home built in the new community. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, but her life's work was standing as matriarch to her large, joyous, and boisterous family, passing from mother to grandmother and finally to great grandmother.
Until her husband's passing, he and Georgiana were competitive square dancers, traveling both locally and nationwide. She had a talent and enthusiasm for painting ceramics with her daughter Karen. And no account of Georgiana's life would be complete without including her devoted passion for her beloved Rays baseball team.
Georgiana was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Arthur Merish and by her daughter Kathi Davis. She is survived by her daughter Karen Pinckard, sons-in-law Dennis Pinckard and Ron Davis, her grandchildren John Pinckard, Michelle (Ryan) Garis, Brett (Andrea Miranda) Davis, Kyle (Sherri Longway) Davis, and her beloved great grandchildren Colton, Chase, and Guinevere.
A visitation for Georgiana will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 1:30PM to 2:30PM, Immediately followed by a 2:30PM funeral service, 3PM grave side committal service and a 3:30PM luncheon, all at Hillsboro Memorial, 2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
