

Gerald H. Miller, Sr. dedicated husband, father, grandfather and beloved friend joined the love of his life Dottie on Saturday, 22 August 2015 in Brandon, Florida. He died unexpectedly at the age of 77. Jerry was born on 18 November 1937 in Hamilton, Ohio to Joseph H. and Marion J. Miller. Jerry graduated in 1959 from the University of Dayton where he was the captain of the golf team and earned a degree in Business Management. Upon graduation from college he was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps as a Distinguished Military Graduate in the United States Army where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant. He later worked in the automobile industry where he owned Miller Buick-Hamilton Auto Sales until 1983 and then moved to FT. Myers, Florida where he retired as the General Sales Manager for an Acura dealership. Jerry and Dottie then moved to Valrico, Florida in 2001. Jerry was an avid and accomplished golfer, a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, B.P.O.E. and a devout member of the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Bloomingdale. Above all he was a warm and gracious gentleman who loved his family deeply. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Dottie, father Joseph, mother Marian, and sister Marilyn. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Kelly Miller-Smith with granddaughter Whitney with great granddaughters Kassidy and Olivia; his son Colonel Gerald H. Miller, Jr., with wife Ines and grandchildren Bjorn, with wife Jessica; Morgan with husband David; grandson Zachary and granddaughter Katja; stepdaughter Pamela Walmsley with husband Walter; stepson Mark Cantrell with Wife Dawn; stepson Richard Cantrell with Pau grandson Kalalau and granddaughter Angelica. Jerry will be laid to rest with Dottie at the Sarasota National Cemetery at a time to be determined.
