Jeff was born at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Merle and Maxine (Petrie) Shockley on July 15, 1959. He was a graduate of Paul Harding High School, class of 1977. He relocated to the Tampa Bay area of Florida with family after high school and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, where he served until his discharge at 100% disability as a result of a motorcycle accident while on active duty in 1982.
He was a life member of the Amvets, and very proud of his military service. He was active in the Filipino Church with his wife Maria.
He loved to play the lottery, Bingo, and all kind of card games; he was also a huge fan of WWF Wrestling and game shows. He was quick to solve the puzzles on TV and loved to shout the solution to Wheel of Fortune first. He was a fan and collector of all things Elvis, while he loved Billy Joel, ZZ Top, classic rock, and Motown soul.
Despite the physical and mental limitations from his accident he would always rush to open doors for strangers, and was kind to those he interacted with, and he could both give and receive good natured ribbing from friends and family. He drove on until the very end and refused to let his limitations get him down or hold him back from being independent. He is already missed by all.
Jeff is preceded in death by his father Merle Shockley, mother Maxine Seeley, stepfather Gerald Gallagher, and stepfather Charles Seeley.
Jeff is survived by his brothers Mike Shockley and Tim (Lisa) Shockley of Brandon, FL, nephews Richard (Ashton) Shockley of Panama City, FL, Jesse (Ashley) Shockley of Rochester, NH, great nephew Braden Shockley (son of Richard), great nephew Hayden and great niece Evelyn (son and daughter of Jesse) and ex-wife Maria (Jeffrey)Shockley.
