Paul was born on October 10,1933 to Paul and Maggie MacMillan Brant in Screven County,
Georgia. After graduating from Forest Park High School in 1953, he began working for A & P
Grocery Store and served in the Army.
After returning from serving in the military, he worked for A & P Grocery Store as the Meat
Market Manager. Later he joined his brother-in-law, Joseph Shelnutt in helping to run the
family dairy farm for the next 10 years. In 1974, he was approached by Truett Cathy, Founder
of Chick-fil-a, to become an owner/operator of a franchise. He ran the Chick-fil-a at
Westshore Plaza from 1974 until 1988.
In high school, he met Jeanne Shelnutt, and they wed in February 1954, going on to have 2
children, Jeffrey Vaughn Brant and Paula Malicia Brant.
After retiring from Chick-fil-a in 1988, he returned to work in 1990 at All Star Bleachers in
shipping and receiving until 1998. Through the years, Paul spent his time serving his church
and community in many different capacities and loved to go hunting and fishing.
Paul was predeceased by his mother and father, mother and father-in-law Wilma and Vaughn
Shelnutt, brother-in-law Joseph (Sylvia) Shelnutt. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, his
brother Jimmy (Barbara) Brant, sister-in-law Elaine (Ray) McGinty, sister-in-law Andrea
(Harold) Callaway, son Jeff (Julie) Brant, daughter Paula (David) Sweat, daugther-in-love
Lothaire Brant, grandchildren DJ (Trisha) Brant, Laura (Benn) Gransden, Lexie (James) Turner,
great grandchildren Parker and Emmett Brant, Beckett Gransden and many adoring nieces and
nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project,
Tunnels to Towers Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Bible
Society.
