Technical Sergeant Joseph David Sheppard, 43, of Brandon Florida passed away on May 25, 2025. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joseph leaves behind his beloved wife of 22 years, Jeanette Sheppard; their son Jared
Sheppard (20), who recently began his journey in the U.S. Air Force making his father proud; and their cherished daughter Jenna Sheppard (9), affectionately known as his “princess.” Joe was known for his unwavering love and affection for his family. He met his wife while stationed at McGuire AFB, and there is where the journey of devotion to his family started. The military moved them from base to base and every time Joe reassured Jeanette, they would be ok and that their family would thrive, and they did. Before they knew it 20 years passed by, they had two beautiful children who will forever cherish the memories of their father, a selfless man who gave everything for them and prioritized their needs. Joe's love for his children was beautifully complemented by his profound love for Jeanette, his partner and soulmate. Whatever she needed, wanted, or desired, he made sure she had. She was his utmost priority, and he would be the first to attest to her remarkable qualities and his deep love for her.
Family was Joe's greatest joy. He was renowned for his infectious humor, captivating smile, and unwavering willingness to help others. To know him was to love him. He had a competitive streak, evident in his passion for card games and board games, particularly MTG and Munchkins. Family members fondly recall countless hilarious moments during game nights when Joseph’s antics—sometimes involving eating a score sheet or two—kept everyone laughing. Joe had a unique gift for bringing people together, keeping everyone laughing and striving for harmony.
Joseph served 20 years in the United States Air Force. Over the course of those two decades his service took him around the globe with Florida as his final location to settle. His love for his military career shined through his work and interactions with personnel. He enjoyed mentoring and always enjoyed helping others, he often wondered if he ever made a difference and now, he knows, he made an everlasting difference in so many lives. You will forever be missed, Technical Sergeant Sheppard.
He is also survived by his Father Duane Sheppard (Chris), Mother Shirley Herring, Brothers Jason Sheppard (Jennifer) and Duane Sheppard Jr. (Ashley); and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews- all who held a special place in Joseph’s heart.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in knowing that Joseph's remarkable spirit will live on, inspiring us to emulate his example of service, laughter, and love. May his memory bring peace and comfort to all who loved him, and may his legacy continue to transform lives for years to come.
