Jo C. Kinney, 83, passed away Aug. 5 after a long illness. A 55-year resident of Tampa, Jo was a banker who helped many Tampa Bay area companies start and build their businesses. She began her career in Florida at Tampa Bay Bank, which became Sun Bank. She left Sun Bank in 1970 to help open Key Bank of Tampa, where she was a vice president in the loan department. She remained in that position when Key Bank was bought by Regions Bank. Jo retired in 2000, and traveled extensively through the U.S. and Europe. She was preceded in death by her husband Wm. A. ‘Al’ Kinney, Jr., who passed in 1995. Jo is survived by her daughter, Karla Jackson, and husband Kevin, of N.C., son Wm. A. “JJ” Kinney, III, and Melanie Hale, of St. Pete, stepchildren, Wes Kinney, Debra Kinney, Jacqui Eckert and husband Steve, grandchildren Keely Kinney, Beau Kinney, Tiffany Hale and Zach Jackson, and sister Pat Murry of Tenn. Visitation is 11 a.m. Monday at Hillsboro Memorial in Brandon. Service follows at noon.
