Julius Engel IV, age 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Jule, as his family and friends knew him, was a devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather and a caring friend.
Jule is survived by his wife, Laura Schoenberger Engel; son, Julius (Lindsey) Engel V and daughter, Chelsea Frances Engel; granddaughter, Charlotte Lucille Engel; sister Debra (late, Rick) Stevens; sister-in-law Vikki Schoenberger; brother-in-law Donald Schoenberger (John Yerby); niece Tori (Brandon) Lasswell. nephew Rick (Savannah) Stevens Jr. ; great nephew Elijah Stevens. He is preceded in death by his parents Julius Engel III and Theresa M Rescigno; father and mother-in-law Donald Schoenberger and Frances Schoenberger.
Jule was born on September 16, 1955, in Camden, New Jersey. He grew up in Clementon, New Jersey where he lived for 20 years and attended Overbrook Regional Senior High School where he wrestled and played football. He then moved to Long Island, New York to be around his large Italian family, where he later met the love of his life, Laura, working as General Manager of Palanker Chevrolet, and he also worked as the manager for Bob Nelson, the comedian, with Joyous Moose Productions. They started their family on Long Island where they lived until 2002. They then moved to Valrico, Florida where he worked as a Sales Consultant for The Gillrie Institute before eventually retiring.
Jule had many talents, but he was best known for his communication and negotiation skills. He was generous, witty, humorous and was unashamed of his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a huge Yankee’s Fan and watched any chance he could. He definitely had a unique personality and if you met him, you would never forget him. His children and granddaughter were the lights of his life. Sharing life stories and sports with his son and dissecting music lyrics with his daughter, plus having deep talks late at night, they never had to guess how much he loved them.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, Florida 33511. A link for the live stream will be available for those unable to attend in person.
