Luz Maria Baez

August 8, 1943-June 2, 2023

On the morning of June 2, 2023, Luz Maria Baez passed into the presence of God at age

79, surrounded by her loved ones. Luz Maria was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to her

parents Maria Toro and Nemecio Baez, where she lived until 1968. ln search of a better

life for her family, Luz left for the U.S. with her husband Antonio Rodriguez, settling in

Buffalo, New York. In 2007 she moved to Tampa, Florida where she remained until her

passing.

Luz Maria was a woman of great faith who loved the Lord Jesus Christ and placed her

faith in Him until the end. She was a simple woman, loved by many, with a heart full of

love, compassion, and empathy, always caring for her fellow neighbor. She was a unique

and exceptional mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother, having 21

grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

A positive woman, full of joy and wisdom, we will miss her dearly, but know that she is

in a better place with our Lord Jesus. Her grandchildren will always smile when

remembering her lemon tea, saltine crackers with butter, tuna sandwiches, and her

undying and unconditional love and support for them.

Luz is survived by her brother Luis A. Baez, her sister Margot Baez, and her daughters,

sons, and their spouses; Eni Rodriguez (Luis A. Torres), Maria Vega, lris B. putala (Kevin

W. Putala), Cynthia Panaro {Frank Panaro), Tony Rodriguez, and Jose E. Rodriguez

(Michelle Rodriguez).

Luz was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Rodriguez, daughter Mariluz Ferris

(Patrick Ferris), son in law Benjamin Vega, granddaughter Tina Rodriguez, and grandson

Michael Moreno.

La mañana del 2 de junio de 2023, Luz Maria Báez pasó a la presencia de Dios a los 79 años, rodeada de sus seres queridos. Luz Maria nació en Ponce, Puerto Rico de sus padres Maria Toro y Nemecio Baez, donde vivió hasta 1968. En busca de una vida mejor para su familia, Luz se fue a los EE. UU. con su esposo Antonio Rodriguez y se estableció en Búffalo, Nueva York. En 2007 se mudó a Tampa, Florida, donde permaneció hasta su fallecimiento.

Luz María fue una mujer de gran fe que amó al Señor Jesucristo y puso su fe en Él hasta el final. Fue una mujer sencilla, amada por muchos, con un corazón lleno de amor, compasión y empatía, siempre preocupada por su prójimo. Fue una madre, hermana, tía, abuela y bisabuela única y excepcional, con 21 nietos y 21 bisnietos.

Una mujer positiva, llena de alegría y sabiduría, la extrañaremos mucho, pero sabemos qua está en un lugar mejor con nuestro Señor Jesús. Sus nietos siempre sonreian al recordar su té de limón, galletas saladas con mantequilla, sándwiches de atún y su amor y apoyo eterno e incondicional para ellos.

A Luz Ie sobreviven su hermano Luis A. Báez, su hermana Margot Báez y sus hijas, hijos y sus cónyuges; Eny Rodríguez (Luis A. Torres), Maria Vega, Iris B. Putala (Kevin W. Putala), Cynthia Panaro (Frank Panaro), Tony Rodríguez y Jose E. Rodríguez (Michelle Rodriguez).

A Luz le precedieron en la muerte su esposo Antonio Rodríguez, su hija Mariluz Ferris (Patrick Ferris), su yerno Benjamín Vega, su nieta Tina Rodríguez y su nieto Michael Moreno.

Un servicio conmemorativo en honor a la vida de Luz Maria Báez se llevará a cabo en:
