

After serving in the Army during the Vietnam War and being honorably discharged, he worked full time in a factory while attending the University of Ponce, Puerto Rico as a full time student. He successfully initiated and established a worker's union at his workplace. His love of English Literature led him to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. He was an active member of the Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon Florida serving as a catechism teacher, Eucharist Minister and Cursillo Leader. He was also a lifetime member of DAV (Disabled American Veterans). He shared many hobbies with his wife of 49 years, Luisa Rodriguez Perez, including traveling, gardening, dancing and fishing. He also shared a love of spending time with his entire family.
He is Preceded in death by his : Grandson, Gabriel Santiago Leavitt. He is survived by his wife: Luisa E. Rodriguez, Sons: Angel Manuel Rodriguez (Jodi Rodriguez-Kraut), Daughters: Luisa I. Rodriguez-Zmoda (Paul A. Zmoda),and Mayra L. Rodriguez-Leavitt (Michael A Leavitt), Sisters: Alejandrina Rodriguez-Centeno, and Amarylis Rodriguez-Cortez. Grandchildren: Alyssa L Rodriguez, Rachel H. Rodriguez, Matthew T. Rodriguez and Serenity A. Leavitt.
