With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Marina Vazquez, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and adored great-grandmother. At 83 years old, Marina left this world peacefully, just one week after her beloved husband, Manuel Vazquez, with whom she shared 64 years of love.
Born on December 26, 1941, in Cuba, Marina was a woman of warmth, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family. In the 1990s, she and Manuel made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States, where they built a life rich with tradition, love, and the joy of family gatherings.
Marina had a passion for cooking, pouring love into every meal she prepared, eagerly awaiting the arrival of her children and grandchildren. She made dinner a special occasion, filled with warmth and togetherness—one of the moments she loved most. She also had a deep affection for her dogs, Yiya and Rocko, who were her loyal companions and a great source of joy and energy in her later years.
In her final years, Marina discovered crochet, finding immense joy in it. She wove love into every creation, gifting nearly everyone in the family with a piece of her handiwork—a reflection of her dedication and affection. She always paid attention to the little details—her nails were always painted, a symbol of her elegance and the pride she took in the life she built.
She was the devoted mother of Alfonso Vazquez Arias and Leonardo Vazquez Arias, the beloved grandmother of Alfonso Jr., Leonardo Jr., and Lisandra, and the doting great-grandmother of Jazmin and Juliet. Her warmth, generosity, and wisdom will always be remembered, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure across generations.
She passed away surrounded by the love, care, and presence of her son Alfonso, her daughter-in-law Zoila Rosa, and her grandson Alfonso Jr.
A funeral service will be held at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her beautiful life and honor the love she shared so deeply.
Though Marina and Manuel are no longer physically with us, their love and legacy remain. Their story is a testament to deep connection, resilience, and devotion—a life lived with heart and purpose.
You will always be with us, Viejuca, Abuela Chucha, Abuela Nina. We will miss you dearly.
