Monique Nina Klarner, aged 88, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Brandon, Florida. Monique was born on January 26, 1934 and grew up in the small village of Saint-Clair-de-Halouze near Flers, Normandy, France and was the oldest of 10 siblings. She married Robert “Bob” Klarner in December 1967 and had a son David.
Monique met Bob in 1962 in Paris, France and over the following decade they spent time together in France and Germany where Bob was stationed with the US Army. In 1973, the family moved to the United States and lived in Alabama and California before settling in Florida.
She had a deep love for animals and over the years rescued several companions including two European turtle doves, a rabbit, a dog and 18 cats. In addition, she and Bob supported the efforts of local humane societies and independent animal care organizations. Monique enjoyed traveling and visiting both Europe and, after moving to the United States, her “new” country of the last 50 years. She kept current on local and international events and read the newspaper daily.
She is predeceased by her father Wladimir Kourlate and her mother Paulette Bizeul and is survived by her husband Bob, son David and wife Jennifer, her granddaughters Remy and Nina, several sisters and a brother who live in France and Corsica, and her cat Cleo.
We will miss her greatly.
