

GLEASON, Marguerite Asbury, 83, went to heaven in the loving arms of Jesus Christ on October 28, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonah and Lena Eggleston Ausbury, her husband, James L. Gleason Sr., and son, Wade Allen Gleason. She leaves behind three sons, James Jr. (Sarah), Darrell (Debbie), Warren (Melody) and daughter, Lena Ruth Chadwell (James); beloved grandchildren, James A. Gleason (Laurie), Francis Gleason, Darrell “D.J.” Gleason II (Jenny), Melissa Burlette (Dave), Lauren Patton (Erik), Pamela Chadwell McDaniel (Todd), Robert Chadwell (Jennifer M.) and Steven Chadwell (Anne-Marie). Joyous to her heart were 17 great-grandchildren. Close cousins include Alice Gordon Austin of Yorktown, Va., H. W. Austin III, Linda Barkley, Scott and Brian Michelon. Mrs. Gleason was born in Charlottesville, Va., raised in Covington, Va., and graduated from Covington High School. She moved to Seffner, FL in 1950 with her husband, two oldest children and her parents. Marguerite was a devoted wife and mother. Her husband contracted polio in 1951, causing him to leave a family tradition of railroading. She took care of him for 35 years. Her professions included waitressing at the Wayside Inn in Seffner, Baker’s Assistant at Horace Mann Jr. High School, and cook at Harris’ Restaurant in Brandon. She was an Event Coordinator at Tampa Electric Company’s Leisure House, Brandon, FL for 34 years. There were many years she worked two jobs at the same time. She was a dedicated and faithful worker. Marguerite’s life exemplified the gift of love. She planned birthday parties, anniversaries, wedding receptions and baby and bridal shows. The most memorable of all were the family get togethers at the Teco Leisure House on Christmas Day. She gave of herself to family, friends and neighbors wherever there was a need. She will be missed everyday by her family. The family will receive friends 10-11a.m with a funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2013 at Stowers Funeral Home. Interment with graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m., at Sunset Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice Team Purple/Garnet of Tampa, FL.
