

Rodney M. Lawrence, age 56, of Brandon, FL, passed away on Wednesday, July 14th, 2021, after a courageous battle with his illness. He was born September 18th, 1965, in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, the son of Mercia (Paul) and John Horace Lawrence.
After graduating high school, he went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Natal. He worked in Johannesburg as an analytical chemist and carried on that career path in the United States of America.
Rodney married his high school sweetheart Meera in 1992. They went on to have two boys, Darian and Keaton.
Rodney was a national chess champion in his hometown of Natal. His passion for music led to him being owner and operator of Disco Je t’aime. He was an avid sports fan that enjoyed Formula One, soccer and golf. He was a crafty Thunnee player and loved doing crosswords.
Rodney was a devoted father and doting husband. He was a five-star cook and an excellent handyman and homemaker. He was also an animal lover and took great care of his dogs, Forrest and Bentley.
He was well loved by his family and friends in South Africa and America. He will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother and eldest sister, Charmaine Pillay. He is survived by his wife, Meera Lawrence; children Darian (Alisa) and Keaton; grandchild Maya Lawrence; Siblings, Keith (Eileen) Lawrence and Wendy Lawrence; Brother-in-Law; Krish Pillay, Kenny and Niree Thumboo, Indira and Anesh; Son-in-Law to Baby Maharaj.
