It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Alice Michaels announces her passing on February 6, 2018 at the age of 94. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Gust and Jennie Quist, her brothers Rusty, Harold, David, Andy, sister Anna and her husband Charles.
Born in Minneapolis, Ruth or Ruthie as she was known to her family later worked at Northwest National Bank, as a secretary at Archer Daniels, a model and in cosmetic sales for Hemphill Wells that later became Dillard’s. Ruth lived in Iowa, Missouri, Texas and Florida.
She was always fashionable with an emphasis on bling in both her attire and her jewelry. When out in public, Ruth was often stopped by strangers and complimented on her style and beauty. She became a celeb in certain establishments around the area. Her smile was as bright as her outfits and would light up a room upon entering. She was quick with a comment and just as quick with a goofy face. She was just plain fun to be around.
She loved socializing and dining out, anywhere was good as long as she could get French fries or mashed potatoes, dessert, anything chocolate and preferred to drink her beer on ice with a straw. She loved shopping at Dillard’s and Nordstrom’s, traveling, especially Las Vegas and she loved her daughter Debra and son Christopher and not always in that order.
She will be deeply missed by her children Debra and Christopher, son-in-law Christopher, step grandson Justin, her extended family and dear friends.
Services will be held on February 24 at 4 PM at Presbyterian Church of Bloomingdale, 710 E. Bloomingdale Ave. Brandon Fl. 33511.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Care Inc. animal shelter in Ruskin, Fl.
A graveside service will be held a later date.
