

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Marion Murray, and her husband, Wayne Cumbie. She is survived by her son, Craig (Mandy) of Kasilof, AK, her sister Donna Murray of St. Petersburg and her brother Norman “Tommy” Murray of Tampa.
Shelley spent most of her childhood in Brandon, FL, and graduated from Brandon High School in 1971. She was a member of the Marching Eagles band in high school, playing the clarinet. Following graduation from high school, she attended Hillsborough Community College, graduating with an AA degree. She also attended USF.
She was a talented writer and worked for a short time as a columnist for La Gaceta Newspaper in Tampa.
As a child, she had a knack for attracting stray dogs, which she adopted, and cherished. She loved animals and all forms of nature, including a parakeet that she trained to chase a small ball.
Following her marriage to Wayne Cumbie, she became a stay-at-home mom and devoted her time to taking care of her husband and son, Craig.
She enjoyed board games, especially Yahtzee.
Funeral services will be held at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens in Brandon on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Family will receive guests at 1:00 PM.
