
Stephen James Pitzer of Tampa, Florida passed peacefully November 9th, three weeks shy of his 94th birthday. Stephen was born in Cleveland Ohio, married his high school sweetheart Jeanne LaGrassa, married 54 years before Jeanne’s passing. Survived by his three children Dennis, Diane and Steven, grandfather to Meghan, Stephanie, Kristine, Stephen, Matthew, Scott, Victoria and Stephen James, as well as great grandfather to Noah, Nick, Alex, Gwen, Brianna, Stephanie, Aubrie, Jayden, Grayson, Emma and Caleb.
Stephen graduated high school from Cleveland’s Cathedral Latin and shortly after was drafted into the Marine Corps toward the end of WWII, honorably serving 6 months before discharge. The Marine Corps drafted Stephen a second time into the Korean War, where he was promoted to Staff Sergeant commanding a Howitzer platoon.
The family relocated to the Tampa area in the early 1970’s and made southern Florida there forever home. Stephen had a multitude of careers, ranging from co-owning a plastering business to selling new cars and furniture.
He will be laid to rest with his wife Jeanne with military honors at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, Indian Rocks Beach, FL.
