Even from a young age, Suellen was known for defying the odds. After suffering a tragic car accident and undergoing multiple open heart surgeries, she never skipped a beat. Everything she was told was impossible, she turned it into her to-do list. These experiences inspired Suellen to pursue a career in the medical field where she could help others in need.
Suellen graduated from East Bay High School in 1984. Following high school, she went on to earn her Associate’s from Lansing Community College and her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. Suellen worked locally as a Registered Nurse for Advent Health and was a clinical instructor at Hillsborough Community College.
In 1985, Suellen married Devon James Ash and they began their family shortly thereafter.
She was extremely devoted to her family and was always present. There was not a moment missed, mostly because she wanted to take in everything life had to offer her. She knew how precious each moment was and embraced life to the fullest.
A thrill-seeker at heart, she was a roller-coaster fanatic who frequented Busch Gardens; where she also loved watching the giraffes (her favorite animal). Suellen loved crafting, decorating, cooking, crocheting, and never came across an animal she didn’t love.
In addition to her parents, Suellen was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Toudt and sister, Cassandra Chancey.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Devon; children - Brittany (Chris) Croll and Chris (Ashton) Ash; brothers - Jeff (Lori Grice) Toudt and Wesley Toudt Jr.; granddaughters - Samara, Reese, and Avery; her dear friend, Debbie Frey; many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, February 10th, from 5-7 with a service to follow at 7pm, Stowers Funeral Home, 401 W. Brandon Blvd. Brandon, Florida. Suellen will be laid to rest at 11am on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 W. Brandon Blvd. Brandon, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Suellen’s memory to the American Heart Association, at www.heart.org.
