Velia Garcia Trice

February 16, 1941 – September 10, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Velia Garcia Trice, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025.

Born in Tampa, Florida, Velia was a proud graduate of Jefferson High School. She later married James H. Trice Sr., with whom she shared a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.

Velia is survived by her two sons, Troy N. Trice and James H. Trice; six cherished grandchildren—Dakota Trice, Dawson Trice, Tina Trice, Leanne Trice, James Trice, and Alexis Trice; and five adored great-grandchildren.

Her family was her greatest joy. Velia was deeply passionate about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing a sporting event, milestone, or special occasion. She had a gift for making others feel loved, supported, and celebrated.

Velia was known for her generous spirit and caring heart. Always willing to help others, she was both charitable and social, forming meaningful bonds with many throughout her life. Her creativity shone through her love of baking and decorating cakes, crafting, and sewing. Family gatherings, especially Christmas Eve, were her favorite times—filled with laughter, warmth, and tradition.

With her boundless energy and quick wit, Velia brought light and joy into every room she entered. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love her.

Per Velia’s wishes, there will be no public celebration of life. She asked that this be a private time for her loved ones to remember her quietly and personally.

She will be missed dearly and remembered always.
