Virginia Johnston, born on August 28,1936 to John A. Vickers and Virginia P. Cole in Tampa, FL, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Virginia went on to graduate from Plant City High School in 1954 as an honor student. After graduating from high school, Virginia went on to pursue a degree in Education at University of South Florida. And later went on to get her Master's degree in Education at the University of Tampa.
Virginia fell in love with Education, which kicked off a 30+ year stint in the field.
She was also a mentor to many young girls, as she was heavily involved with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth.
In 1956, she married Robert W. Connally and had 4 children, John, Mary, Michael, Jeffrey. They got divorced in January 1968.
In 1967, she met Robert W. Johnston and the two were inseparable from that point on. Virginia and Robert were married for 19 years and had 2 children, George and Madeline.
Virginia was a fiercely dedicated mom to all of her children, raising all 6 of them to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Virginia, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.
Virginia was predeceased by John A. Vickers, Virginia P. Cole, and Robert W. Johnston. She is survived by her children John Connally(Marilyn), Mary Hicks(Darryl), Michael Connally(Wendy), Jeffery Connally(Sam), George Johnston(Andrea), Madeline Backlinie(Bob). As well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be on August 2, 2021 at New Hope United Methodist Church in Brandon, FL.
