

Weldon was born on January 10, 1941 in Wells Tannery, PA but was raised in Zolfo Springs, FL by his loving grandmother. Weldon attended Brandon High School for 10th and 11th grade and graduated from North East High school in PA in 1959. After high school, Weldon enlisted in the US Navy for four years and was aboard the USS Alamo where he achieved rank of Petty Officer and was a Damage Controlman and Hard Hat Scuba Diver.
After his enlistment, Weldon worked for the CSX Railroad for 22 years as a Conductor. In 1984 Weldon founded his own underground utility construction company, Johnston Trust Utilities, that is still a prosperous and thriving company today.
Weldon is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Karol Crofton Johnston; his father, Phillip Hiawatha Johnston; and brother Louie Parker Johnston. He is survived by his daughter Elena Johnston and his granddaughter, Jaiden Alexandra Molina, of Riverview; and his daughter Amy Johnston and son-in-law, David Voykin, of Valrico. He is also survived by his dog and best friend, Shilo.
Weldon enjoyed music, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter. Those who knew Weldon remember him for his kindness, his loving spirit, his generosity, sense of humor and his love of animals. He will be sorely missed.
A Visitation will be held at 11:00am and Funeral Service will be at 12:00pm, Feb. 23, at the Creekside Church of Christ, 3949 Lithia Pinecrest Rd., Valrico, FL. Burial immediately following Funeral Service at Bloomingdale Community Cemetery, 3301 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, FL.
