William “Bill” Kardash passed away at Brandon Regional Hospital on Monday, June 23, 2025. He is survived by his three children, William Jr., Joseph, and Regina, his grandson, Archer, and his brothers, Harry and Peter. He is predeceased by his wife, Diane. They were married on June 9, 1962.
Bill was a devoted husband and father with a quick wit and infectious, dry sense of humor. He had an impeccable work ethic and everything he did was for his family. Bill was a civil engineer, graduating from what is now known as the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he also taught engineering and advanced mathematics before moving to Florida to become the President of Cast-Crete, Inc., a subsidiary of Florida Engineered Construction Products (FECP), Corp. While at Cast-Crete, he designed and patented the machines that made Cast-Crete the nation’s largest producer of pre-cast concrete construction products. As part of Florida’s construction industry, he worked on revisions to the Florida Building Code during reforms in the late 1990’s following Hurricane Andrew. His contributions focused on ensuring Florida’s residential and commercial structures were more hurricane resistant, resilient after storms, and safer for all Floridians and visitors.
Bill was generous, disciplined, and a man of faith. He participated in multiple men’s prayers groups, small Christian communities, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus at his former parish in Parsippany, New Jersey. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and christened into the Ukrainian Orthodox Church the same day Pearl Harbor was attacked. He grew up in Linden, New Jersey, where he met his soon-to-be wife, Diane, while working as a pool technician and earning his engineering degree. After they were married, Bill and Diane lived in Parsippany where their sons were born. They moved to Florida in 1978 where their daughter was born a few years later. For more than a decade in the 1980’s and 90’s, he volunteered at Nativity’s Tuesday night bingo as the caller where he was known as “Bingo Bill,” and helped to recruit other volunteers for the school. He supported his wife’s work with the Church, and hosted countless priests, religious, and missionaries into his home over the years.
Bill provided for his family and was proud of the life he built for them. He emphasized the importance of education, hard work, and faith through his lifelong example of taking care of the souls God entrusted to him. He was a problem solver without judgment, but with the expectation of helping to learn from mistakes, grow from adversity, and to always be grateful to God.
A funeral mass for William will be held 11:30a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 East Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida. Inurnment to follow at 1 p.m. in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida.
