Anne Drake

On Good Friday, April 15, 2022, Anne McGuire Drake passed away suddenly at Huron Lodge in Windsor, ON. She reunites with her beloved husband, Don (deceased 2002). Anne was born in Scotland June 6, 1932. She moved to Canada in 1948, with parents Ellen and Andy Ferrol and older sister Agnes (now deceased). They stayed temporarily in Toronto with relatives before settling in the Jerseyville settlement near Brantford, ON. It is here she met her beloved Don and they married at 19 in December, 1951. Their first apartment was in Brantford before they moved to Ottawa after a couple of years where they raised 3 children. In 1971 they moved again bringing the family to Mississauga, ON. Here Anne worked many years in the office at Lorne Park Secondary School.

Don and Anne were always involved in Baptist churches (Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec). Anne volunteered with CGIT for many years.

They loved travelling with a trailer exploring parks in Ontario and eastern United States.

They moved to Peterborough in 1981 and then back to Mississauga in 1984 before retiring in Ancaster, ON in 1987. In winter they looked forward to staying in their mobile home in Bradenton, Florida. In retirement they were involved at Jerseyville Baptist Church. She was active in the Baptist Women’s group. She also loved her ladies quilting group.

She is survived by sons Michael (wife Diane) and Rob. Predeceased by daughter Christine (2016). She leaves 6 grandchildren; Natalie, Holly (husband Cory Feiler), Joel (wife Carolina Gomez), Caroline (husband Jonah Goldberg), Kevin and Aaron as well as 3 great grandchildren; Cooper, Ben and Sybil.

Funeral to be held at 11 a.m. (with visitation from 10 a.m.) on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home & Chapel (96 West St., Brantford, ON). If desired donations can be made to Baptist Women, Jerseyville Baptist Church, or Camp Oneida. Share memories or online condolences below.
