Antonina Pipala Postrozny

Went to be with Jesus her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at St. Joseph's Lifecare, at the age of 89. Predeceased by her husband John Postrozny (1972). Dear mother of Janina (Peter) Dekker, Brantford, Edward (Nancy) Postrozny, Toronto, Peter Postrozny (Michele), New Hamburg. Babcia of Jennifer Smith, Paris, Jamie Anne LaRush (Brian), Oakland, Dana Mitchell (Dan), Toronto, Matthew Postrozny (Anna), British Columbia, Drew, Bethany and Cassandra Postrozny, all of New Hamburg. She will be missed by her great-grandchildren both present and awaiting. Sister of Victoria Zimnicki, Pennsilvanya, U.S.A., Kostek (2008), Zygmunt (2000) & Anglea Pipala, Boardman Ohio, U.S.A. Also missed by her many nieces, nephews, her many relatives in Poland and friend Lela Kolesnik. Since 1951 when she arrived in Canada she has been a member at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on Brant Avenue and also was a member of the Polish Hall, Pearl Street, Brantford for well over 50 years. She survived the deprivations of the Polish Deportations by Communist Russian authorities when she was sent to Russian Gulag (Labour Camp) during the World War II. Once freed in the Middle East she joined the Polish Women's Auxiliary in support of Polish Troops and served in England. She met her husband Jan, a member of the Polish Parachute Brigade while they were both stationed in Scotland. Friends will be received at the "THORPE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL", 96 West Street, on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 235 Brant Avenue with Father Adam Wroblewicz officiating. Internment to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. If desired donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Lifecare, St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church or Alzheimer's Society.
