Imelda "Flan" Flannery Hipkin

Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Brantford General Hospital, in her 99th year. Flan was the loving wife of the late Joseph “Little Joe” Hipkin (2002). She was the devoted and loving mother of Ronald, Ken (Marg), Jim (Dale), Mary Jonker (Cor), Eileen Parker (Steve) Bob (late Wendy). She was a wonderful and special grandmother to Bernadine (Kevin), Brad (Marta), Maja, Sandra (Aaron), Leslie (Dan), Jon (Chris), Jenn, Brian (Stacey), Laurie (Rich), Dan (Lesley), Brady (Courtney), Pat (Doug), Tammy, Greg (Amanda), Ryan (Rianne), Ed (Rosaria). She was so proud of her great grandchildren; Ben, Cole, Dylan, Corey (Sara), Calvin (Beth), Isabella, Matthew, Joshua, Taylor, Calley, Sydney, Corgan, Clara, Ronnie, Marcus, Gabriel, Cassy, Kezia, Emily, Nathan, Leah and Owen. She was blessed with a great, great grandchild, Garren. She loved and was best friends with her sisters Hilda, Greta (John) , Emily (deceased) and her brother Roy (deceased) (Doreen). Cherished and loving aunt to her many nieces, nephews and their families.

Imelda graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Toronto in 1936. She helped open St. Joseph’s Hospital in Brantford working on the Children’s Ward. She then became a Nursing Supervisor with the Brantford General Hospital for almost 20 years. Flan was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Choir, loved her times lawn bowling and was so happy to be playing cards and visiting with her many precious friends. ShWe will always cherish her kind smile, her gifts of wisdom, her zest for life and her love of God. Flan was a gift that blessed us all in her life’s journey. Thanks mom for your loving guidance and the footprints you have left in our hearts.

Friends will be received at ”THORPE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West Street, on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Parish prayers will be receited at 8:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian of Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament, 181 King Street, Burford, on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bob Bulbook officiating. Internment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Brantford General Hospital (Palliative Care) or to a Charity of Choice.
