Surrounded by her loved ones, Janice Elaine DeGeit entered into eternal peace on Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford. Janice is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, John; her two children, Tim (Vikki) and Kristin (Geoff); her two sisters, Judy and Sharon; and her grandchildren Jordan and Mackenzie. Janice was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Helga Woodhouse; her father, Norman Woodhouse, her sister, Norma; and two faithful dogs, Mork and Mindy.
Janice was the youngest of four sisters.
Janice graduated from BCI with Honours and met the love of her life, John in her last year of high school. Their marriage began with a bang, literally, in the Pocono Mountains when they won the husband and wife rifle championships on their honeymoon (yes, she knew how to load and shoot a rifle!)
Janice joined the Brantford Police Service in 2001. She became a full-time front desk receptionist in 2002, and then transferred to the Records Section in 2008 where she concluded her 14 years of service before retirement in 2015.
Janice was known for her love of music (and Rod Stewart). She started playing the piano at the age of five (without a lesson) and was the organist at a local church for several years.
Janice will be remembered for her strong work ethic, wonderful sense of humour and zest for life.
A Celebration of Janice's life will be held on Friday, January 19th, 2018 from 6 to 9pm at the Dominion Telegraph Event Centre, 97 Grand River Street North, Paris ON N3L 2M3.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Stedman Community Hospice.
